JCPenny has a coupon out right now that takes $10 off of $25 purchase.  Would be great for a Father's Day gift or a swimsuit that I probably need to get for the summer.

County Market Coupons

For those of you who live in Champaign and surrounding areas - don't throw away your "junk mailing" in your mailbox this week.  It contains a booklet of coupons for County Market or Cub Foods!  There are some good deals too!  Especially if you find a matching manufacturer coupon to go along with their store coupon.

Garage Sale Finds

On Thursdays I usually hunt for garage sales or whatever kind of sale is going on in our neighborhood.  I pick Thursday because most sales are on Friday and Saturday (some even on Thursday).  I look up sales on Craigslist.com and our local newspaper online.

So I was excited to see that there was a HUGE sale at a local church down the street.  St. Matthew's church was having a pre-sale today from 5-8pm with a $2 admission.  The sale will continue through the weekend.  Here's what we found:

Nalgene Bottle = $.25 (what a steal!!)
Scrabble = $.50 (artwork for hubbie)
Hardback books =$.50/each
Stage 3 kids toothbrushes = $.50/each
Kids Sandals = $.50/each
Boys Clothing = $.25/each
Bumkins Bibs =$.25 for all three!! ($20 for 3 bibs online)

We also splurged and got the boys the pink stroller (see photo below)
for $.50 because they love to push it around the house with their toys in it!

So total we spent $10 on all of our items
and then $4 on admission for the pre-sale.
I think it was worth the trip.

(I don't know why this last part is underlined???)

Schnucks Trip

I had a great time shopping with my family tonight.  We heard about the great deal on Kellogg's cereal ($0.89/box with $1 off coupon), so we headed over to Schnucks for some sweet shopping deals.  Also, I wanted to note that even though our family LOVES cereal....we will be donating half of these boxes to our church food pantry.  As you can see from the picture, my husband LOVES Boca Chicken Patties, so we stocked up on those as well.

Kellogg's cereal = $0.89/box with $1 off coupon
Boca Meats = $3.25/box with $0.50 off coupon
Crystal Light = $0.67/box with $1 off coupon and coupon
Kraft Dressing = $0.67/jar with $1 off coupon and coupon
Salad = $1.50 no coupons (decided to get these because they were on sale and we have a lot of salad dressing now!)
Total = $41.08

Boys and Bathtime

Last night the boys were so cute in the bathtub, and they were playing really nicely that I thought I'd take a couple videos to savor the moment.  They spent a hour in the bath just playing with all their water toys that their Grandmas got for them.  So here's a couple videos of them enjoying each others company.

Weekly Grocery Trip

My little one saw the $0.99 Strawberries from Aldi's and polished off a whole pint before dinner! Good thing I bought 3 total!

We have some friends coming to spend 3 days with us, so I got the approval from the hubbie to spend more than $40 on groceries this week. I ended up spending $74 total.

Some great deals I found were the strawberries from Aldi, the mangos were $0.79 from Aldi, the Fiber One yogurt from IGA in my previous post was a steal, and the bananas were $0.45/lb. at Aldi.

Also we hooked up 4 boxes of Frosted Mini Wheats from Schnucks because they were $2/box and I had a $1 off coupon, making them $1/box! To sweeten the deal - if you bought 4 boxes you'd get a $2 off your next grocery order! So I got 4 boxes for $0.50 each!!

Our meals planned for this week are:

BREAKFAST
Cereal, Waffles, Scrambled Eggs, Toast, and more cereal

LUNCH
Ham, Pepperoni, Cheese Sandwiches
Tortellini Soup
Fish Sticks
Grilled Cheese
Mac and Cheese (boxed)

DINNER

Pizza
Egg Casserole
Green Bean Casserole
Sloppy Joes

SIDES
Pork n Beans
Pasta Salad

SNACKS

Super Power Muffins

super power muffins:

1 cup brown sugar (I don’t pack it!)
¼ to ½ cup peanut butter
1 banana
*optional ½ cup of apple sauce or carrot puree
1 egg
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
*optional ¼ cup chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all dry ingredients well and set aside. Blend everything else and then sift in dry ingredients. Spray muffin tray. Bake for 15-18 min. Makes 12 - double for 24.

Grocery Shopping Trip

Went to IGA, County Market, and Schnucks to find our Grocery items.  Take a look:

We got lots of really cheap cereal ($0.75/box) from IGA this week, so I'm sure that we'll donate some of that to the food pantry at our church.  The pizza were all free from some coupons a friend gave me.  So overall, I think it will fill up our pantry pretty good.

IGA: Kelloggs Cereal $0.75/box

Since I heard that a few more local people are reading my blog, I'm going to try and help out with finding deals in our neighborhood.  So here's one of them.

I just tallied up our $40 grocery list for the week and it looks like we'll be stocking up on cereal from Kellogg's.  At IGA this week they have Kellogg's cereal on sale for 4/$7, and with these $1 off coupons, and here, you could be getting cereal for $0.75!  Now that's a deal!  (Don't forget, you can print off two of each coupon.  I have a total of 16 $1 off coupons for Kellogg's.)

CVS Shopping Trip

I headed over to CVS before our library trip (since they're right next to each other), and here's what we got for real cheap and free today!

Our first transaction was for the cereal.  The deal was if you bought 3 for $10, then you get $5 Extra Care Bucks back.  If you aren't familiar with CVS' Extra Care Program, check it out here at moneysavingmom.com.  I used 2 $1 off coupons for the Mini Wheat and Special K, and I had another coupon from VocalPoint to buy one get one free Mini Wheat.  So, total I spent .33/box!

The next transaction was for the Men's Degree deodorant.  They cost $3.99 each, but you get $3 ECB back! I had 2 coupons from the 4/5 RedPlum insert, making them free!

The third transaction was for the toothpaste.  I always hook up the toothpaste because we give lots to the Empty Tomb here in town for those who can't afford it.  Pretty much the same deal as the deodorant, $2.99 each, and got $2 ECB each, and I had 2 $1 off coupons from the 4/26 SmartSource insert.

If this doesn't make any sense, check out this link for more helpful tips.

Free KFC Meal

Head on over to this KFC website where you can print out a couple coupons for a FREE 2 piece KFC Meal, two individual sides and a biscuit, here.

I opened this link up through Internet Explorer, because it's a Bricks coupon.  And I got it to print 4 times!! That's 4 free meals!!  So keep pressing your back button to refresh the coupon.  Or just open the link multiple times.  Print these as soon as possible, because they're going fast!

Here's some more information if your curious.

CROP Hunger Walk Adventure

Here we are about to start our adventure of the CROP Hunger Walk.  I should explain what the CROP walk really is.  "Neighbors walking together to take a stand against hunger in our world. Together we raise awareness and funds for international relief and development, as well as local hunger-fighting."  As you can see, we started out with our wagon....but that turned out to be too heavy to pull, so we switched to the double jogging stroller.

The route was 6 miles long and the route started at the church and went past our home, so we were able to switch out the wagon for our stroller.  It was such a nice day for the walk, that I was determined to finish it out with the boys.  They didn't really like being confined to the stroller, so Jason and I tried to keep them entertained during the walk.

Jason thought of the idea to carry water jugs along with him, to feel what it would be like to walk 6 miles to fetch water, like some 3rd world countries do.  Zechariah carried his water bottle for a little while, and he said it was "so heavy!"

So as my husband and I are relaxing after a long walk, and the boys are in bed, I'm glad to know that we were able to walk the walk and find out how it would feel like to walk 6 or so miles each day to fetch water.

Flowers

The other day my wonderful husband brought me home some beautiful flowers!  I love it when he does that for me.  It makes my crazy day seem so much more worth it.  I remember when we were dating, I gave him some suggestions on how to make a girl happy, and one of those suggestions was to get her flowers every once in awhile.  So I wanted to share with you one of the simple ways to make your day seem a little brighter.
