Grocery Shopping this Week = $44.89

This week was kinda a catch-up week. We had a couple of meals that we didn't make last week, so that helped with this week. And we also depended on our pantry for alot of our needs this week.

Here's the update on Grocery spending for this week...

First of all, I spent too much last week, so I'm taking that into consideration this week.

Target = $14.25

Walmart = $13.45

Total = $44.89

I am still a little over our $40/week budget, so I will take that out of next week's budget. Someday I will catch up!

Grocery shopping this week = $39.25

I only shopped at one store this week, because I was tired and it was just easier for me to purchase everything at one store. This week it was Walmart, because I was looking for the 'supposedly' on rollback, Oreos. Boo...I didn't find them on rollback.

There's a new item out called Cremette's Quick Cooking Pasta. It was only $1.23, and on all the boxes, there was a coupon for $0.50 off the box. Making each box only $0.73! I hope those noodles are good.

The homemade bread was on clearance, and if you know my family, we'll go through that bread in a couple days. YUM!

I spent a total of $39.25 this week. Yea!

Grocery shopping this week = $40.97

This week I went a little crazy going to lots of different stores for groceries. It was fun though because I took a couple weeks off of grocery shopping, so it feels good to get back into the swing of things.

Target = $9.61

Meijer = $21.43

The cheese was on sale 3/$6, and I had two coupons for $5 off 5 cheese, from Kraft. Great coupon!!

Okay, okay, I know I went over my budget by $1.63, but I justify it by saying that in previous weeks I have been under budget, so we will take that $1.63 out of those weeks. I'm trying really hard to

Total spent at County Market = $1.37

If you're wondering how in the world I only spent $1.37 on all these name brand items, you can thank Kraft for sending me coupons for the three items in the lower half of the photo. I highly recommend following Money Saving Mom's blog to keep up on all the freebies!

I also used a store coupon for $3 off any 6 General Mills products purchased. So I bought 6 Hamburger Helpers for $0.99/each, then used the $3 store coupon, and combined that with (2) $0.75 off 3 coupons. Which totaled to $1.50 for 6 boxes. I think I also got overage for one of the other free items I got. This was the best trip to County Market ever!!

Total spent at Target = $8.95

The total I typed above for Target was only for the food items. I just wanted to show you what all I got at Target. The non-food items comes out of our "laundry" budget. So if you're curious I spent $15.96 on the non-food items.

Target had a really good deal on cereal. Kellogg's cereal was on sale for $1.99, and I had a bunch of cereal coupons from Coupons.com. The Eggos were on sale for $1.75, and I had (3) $1 off coupons. I really just looked off of Money Saving Mom's blog for the Target deals she posts.

Total spent at CVS = $3.50

I had some Extra Care Bucks that I used towards this purchase and also combined that with some coupons I had printed out from Coupons.com.

Total spent at IGA = $4.61

Lots of good cereal deals this week, can you tell? IGA had an in-store coupon if you bought 4 boxes of GM cereal, you would get $4 off. I combined that in-store coupon with some manufacturer coupons from coupons.com.

Total spent at Walmart = $23.20

Walmart had our favorite spaghetti/pizza sauce on sale this week for $0.88! I decided to stock up on that price! I also had a coupon for the refried beans and the tomato paste.

Grocery shopping this week = $37.57

This week, grocery shopping was kinda on the fly. Whenever I got a chance to go to a grocery store or drug store, I took it. So this is out of the norm for me to hit up 5 different stores for spending our weekly $40 grocery monies.

I took Grandma Jo out to run some errands and she wanted to stop at Big Lots, and they had a huge rack filled with bread priced at $1 each. We've been running out of bread like crazy lately, so I took this opportunity to stock up a bit. Total spent below, $5.

Walgreens had a deal this week if you bought 2 Kellogg's cereal for $5, you got $2 back in Register Rewards. So I had a coupon for the Kashi box, and spent only $1.08 for the picture below. I also want to note that I had two coupons to get the Always pads for free, and I used some previous Register Rewards to knock the bill down some.

The boys and I went to a super cool park nearby a Walmart, so we just stopped in there to pick up some free wipes, and here's what we came out with. (The Pampers wipes were $1.97 and we had 10 $2 off coupons). We will donate the wipes, since our boys are almost out of diapers. :)

County Market had a couple of great items this week. The Oreo's will come in handy for a couple of events coming up where I need to bring a dessert. I think I might make a couple Oreo pies! Yum! Total spent for the picture below, $8.31.

I'm not sure if this falls into our grocery spending, but we've been drinking it like water since it's so hot out! We had 4 BOGO (buy one, get one free) coupons, and they were $1 at Target, so we spent $4 on the picture below.

And who can say "no" to free strawberries from a friend? We froze half of them for smoothies and gobbled up the rest! (Thanks, Debbie!)

Total spent for all the grocery items this week was $37.57! Stayed under budget again! I love that. How did you do this week?

Free Food

This is an update on the "eat from your pantry" month...I just wanted to keep up with my blog on letting everyone know whenever I go out and bring food into our home. Here is an example of getting free food for our weekly menu. My husband and I had a chance to go out without the kids last night and we exchanged some Christmas presents that were duplicates in exchange for some fruit and bread. Is that cheating the "eat from your pantry" challenge, you might ask? My husband and I decided that technically we weren't spending any money to get the food, so it was ok in our book!

Laundry Items at Schnucks and Walmart

I just got back from running a couple of errands, and since I was in the Savoy neighborhood, I decided to stop by Walmart and Schnucks on my way home tonight. I got the below items for a little over $5.00!!

At Walmart, you can get the little boxes of Snuggle for Free! (and possible overage). All you need to do is have the RedPlum coupon insert from 12/6/09 Sunday's paper. There is a $2 off any Snuggle Fabric Sheets. I grabbed the Dole Pineapple ($0.88) for a filler at the checkout lane.

The other items I got at Schnucks. The All detergent is on sale this week for $2.99, and in the same RedPlum insert, there is a $2 off All detergent. That makes each bottle $0.99! And since we upgraded our washer and dryer, we need to buy HE detergent, so I was excited to stock up on those items. And the Method hand wash was on sale for $2.50, and I had a $2 off coupon here.

Total spent on these items altogether was $5.16!

(For those of you who are planning on also getting these deals, the All detergent is on sale till Sunday (12/12//09), and the Method hand soap is on sale till 1/10/09).

Walmart - Halloween

My boys and I ran into Walmart this morning to figure out how to get duplicate copies of this one receipt that I have.  It turns out that I can only get multiples of receipts whenever I am purchasing these items.  So I was bummed about that. 

Anyway, I always know to check the holiday before carts which have items drastically reduced prices.  The Walmart in Savoy, IL had a TON of these Halloween buckets leftover for only (not $1, not $0.50, not $0.25) $0.10 each!!!  Can you believe that!  They were originally $3.

My boys LOVE Toy Story and so when I saw these, I knew that they would be worth the $0.10 invested in them.  My boys love to carry their toys around the house, wether it's in their arms, in a basket, or in a dump truck.  Even when we go outside to play, they love to put rocks, leaves, and sticks in their ride-on-toys.  So it was fun to see them come home with them and see what they would put in their new buckets.  

"Z-man" went straight to his Toy Story figurines (from Grandma and Grandpa F. on their trip to Disneyworld), and put those in his bucket, along with some quarters and dimes.  "Pudge" had it figured out from the beginning that his "blankie" would fill up his bucket.  

Walmart Trip saved $22 with Coupons!

The music class that I take our boys to is by a Walmart, so I usually look up the deals for Walmart that week and try to get some stuff for free!  Here's what we got this week for $24.95!

Walmart Trip

The boys and I ran to Walmart this morning before our trip to the mall, and here's what we got!

I had a couple $2 off coupons for the V8 Juices, so those were around .99 each. YUM!  The yogurts were cheap too because we had some coupons as well.  And the taco seasonings were free because of coupons.  The Pringles were .50 each.  We paid full price for the rest of the items, including the new undies we had to get for our eldest. :)
