Briella's Boutique - Savoy, IL

If any of you local readers are looking for a great resale shop, this is it! Briella's Boutique is a fairly new cosignment shop, with some great deals. They have a variety of items, from kids clothing to dog clothing! :)

We happened to stop in this morning (my two boys and I), and low and behold, it was storytime! They have a story hour the 2nd Saturday of each month at 10:30, so we came at just the right time! They read a story to the kids, then have a craft, and then get to take home a snack. Wait, there's more! If you bring your kids in, then you get 10% off your purchase! (I'm not sure if that's everyday, or if it was just today). I was blown away by their attitude towards kids, it was a great feeling knowing that my kids were not a nuisance in their store.

So, if you're in the area, by the Walmart in Savoy, stop by to see their shop. I highly recommend it! I got a new pair of shoes for $24, and a new top for $5. And I love the fact that it's a form of recycling. I'm going to have to start co-signing my boys clothes there, because for us, All Things Kids, is further away from us than Briella's.

Salvation Army Thrift Store

I haven't been to any thrift store in a long time, mostly because we don't need anything right now. But the other day, I couldn't help myself and I had to stop in the Salvation Thrift Store on John St. It was after my doctors appointment, so I had no kids with me and I was all by myself. I love those moments.

Anyway, I wanted to share with you what I found. A pair of shoes for Pudge! I've been looking for awhile now for some simple shoes that he can just slip on, and I told myself that I wouldn't buy any for full price. So, I was thrilled to see them at the thrift store!

They have super heros on them and were a little dirty when I found them. But once I brought them home, they cleaned up pretty nicely! Plus, they have velcro, so Pudget can put on the shoes himself. Here's a photo of them:

And the best part about them was that they were only $1.63!!! Now, that's a steal! Have you found anything at a thrift store lately?

Goodwill Trip

Pudge and I headed out to North Prospect after we dropped off Z-man at school, because we had a coupon for Pudge to get his 3rd birthday pictures taken at Olan Mills (located at Meijer). So we stopped at Goodwill to waste 45 minutes before his appointment.

Here's what we found:

The boys have really been into computer games lately, and so we always make sure to check the Thrift stores when we go. Pudge and I found a basket full of computer games on sale for $0.99 each! They usually are priced at $2.96 each, so this was a great find! We picked up 7, some that we will re-gift, and some will go to the consignment shop.

We found a DVD of the Little Einsteins that still had the wrapper on it! Guaranteed no scratches! We paid full price for that one, $3.50.

And the books were just for fun. $0.25 each.

I love Goodwill! And thanks to my grandma, I didn't pay anything out of pocket, instead I used the gift card she gave me for Christmas!

Salvation Army Finds = $6.20

This morning I had a doctor's appointment, and had some extra time in between, so I stopped at Salvation Army with my husband and Pudge. It was a good day to go, because they had kids clothing 50% off! I love those days!

We got this brand new Amazing Race game for $3. My husband and I love the Amazing Race and have some friends who do too. Maybe they'll play it with us.

My favorite find is this almost brand new coat for Z-man from Old Navy! And guess how much I paid? Only $2.50.

Salvation Army Finds = $12

On a whim, I took Pudge with me to the Salvation Army store on John St. here in Champaign. I was glad that we stopped in because they were having a sale on their kids clothing. All items were 50% off!! I am always on the lookout for boy toddler clothing at garage sales, so this was an even better deal. Here's what I found for a total of $12:

All the kids clothing was $0.75/each.

My belt that I've been needing oh so badly cost $0.75.

And I also found a cute windbreaker for only $2.50.

So overall, not too shabby day at the Salvation Army store!

Salvation Army Finds = $9

This past week I had the chance to take my eldest to school by myself, while 'pudge' was at home with dad. What does this mean? Well, it means that I had a chance to stop by the Salvation Army store BY MYSELF on the way home! Woo-hoo!

I found a pajama set from Carters for my eldest, and I had found the exact same one earlier at our local kids' consignment shop. This time I got the set for $3. So now I feel like I have twins running around our home:

The day I stopped into the Salvation Army store, they were having a discount on suitcases. They were all 25% off. I had been looking for a suitcase on Craigslist and Freecycle for the longest time, and I was in luck that day! I got in the store early, around 9:15am, so I had a couple to pick from. I think if I had gone in later that day there might not have been any left.

Here's what I came out with, a suitcase for myself ($4.75) and a suitcase for my boys ($1.75), so with the 25% off, they totaled about $4.50.

I also snagged a pair of shoes for 'Pudge' because he's in need of a bigger size. Total was $1.50.

Great day for the Salvation Army!

Something for Everyone

I had been itching to get to a Thrift Store for awhile now, but never seemed to find the time. So I devised a plan. If I gathered up some things in our home that we don't use anymore, and made a pile of things for the Thrift Store, that would give me an excuse to stop there! Sneaky, I know. But at the same time it also made me work on cleaning out the house.

So today we stopped by the Salvation Army store and found something for everyone in the family. My husband found a pair of Lee jeans, and a pair of Eddie Bauer dress pants for a total of $8.

I was looking through their kids clothing because it was 50% today, so I found a warm fleece hoodie for 'Pudge', and a nice Gymboree shirt for 'Zman'. Total was $1.50.

For myself, I was looking for some workout clothing because my husband and I are still going strong on the 30 Day Shred with Jillian Micheals. So I've been running out of workout clothing throughout the week, so I found a couple pairs of pants. I also found a cute zip up hoodie! And the shoes I grabbed on the way out, because I've been looking for some dress up brown shoes. Total was $12.

New Salvation Army Store

If you haven't heard already, there is a new Salvation Army store in town!  Yup, my husband discovered it a couple weeks ago when he went to the laundromat for me.  It is located at 109 W. John St. here in Champaign.  So, today was the first time that I actually went inside.  I was surprised at how organized and clean the store was!!  I asked an employee where they got all their nice shelving and racks, and they said that they got them from the Steve & Barry's store that went out of business awhile back.  I was just really impressed with the whole setup of the store.  And of course, if you know me well, you know that I can't just walk into a thrift store without finding something.  Here's what I ended up with:

VTech Thomas the Tank Engine Laptop: $4.50 (retails for $18.00) (Christmas gift!!)

Wooden Frame: $0.50 (Christmas gift!!)

Photo Album: $0.75

Mini Christmas Lights: $2.50 (and they all work!!)

I have to say for $8.50, that's a steal!  So if you're in the neighborhood, I highly recommend that you stop by their store and support them.  

Salvation Army Finds

Our local Salvation Army store out behind the mall has been updated and remodeled!  If you live in Champaign, I suggest you check it out.  It looks like they got alot of their cabinets and shelving from one of the big clothing stores that went out of business.  

This was the first time I'd been in there since they've remodeled, and here's what I came out with:

We scored some Bob the Builder birthday decorations for our little Silas who will be turning 2 in February.  Book = $1, Hat = $1, Balloons = $0.50, Banner = $0.25.

The Photo Album isn't as nice on the outside as it is on the inside.  It was $2.50, and has lots of pages where I can store some free photos! :)

Here are some cute shelves that I will find a nice spot for in our bedroom ($3 each):

And these black corner shelves were only $1 each, so I'm going to paint them white and also find a spot for them, and put candles on:

And last but not least, I got this 7.5 foot Christmas tree for only $10!!  It's currently in our garage airing out, because it kinda smells like someone's attic.  My mother-in-law suggested hanging little cute packages of air freshners in the tree when we bring it inside.  Any suggestions on how to get that attic smell out of a Christmas tree?

Overall, I'm quite pleased with out findings at the local Salvation Army store.

Goodwill Findings

I felt lucky when I headed over to Goodwill today.  I was really looking for a new pair of Kakhi's because the ones that I have and love, have too many holes in them.  I have gotten several hints from my husband and now from my sister, so I figured that I'd check out Goodwill for a new pair.

And to top it off the Kakhi's were from Express and they were 50% off!  So I got them for $1.99!

  

I also tried on some other pants and jeans there and I was excited to find some great finds!  The rest of the pants were $3.99.  The black work out pants are from Lady Foot Locker, the next pair are from Candies, the next are from Express, and the brown slacks are from Relativity, and the Kakhi's are from Express. 

I also grabbed a cute pair of short overalls for little Silas that were 50% off, so they were $0.88!!!  And they're from OshKosh!  Super cute!

  

Goodwill Findings

I went to Goodwill the other day when the had the day off from being a mom.  I had been reading a similar blog to mine The Frugal Girl, and she said that lately she's been into wearing skirts more than shorts for the summer.  I agree with her reasoning in wearing skirts more than shorts.  

So I headed over to Goodwill just to check out their skirt section.  All their skirts are $2.50. Here's what I found:

The second skirt I found is a grayish color and is more dressy looking.  I shot a close up of the sort of pleats with "____" ((can't think of the word)) under it)

Goodwill curtains $4 total

I finally got around to trimming the curtains that I got at our local Goodwill for $4.  I LOVE the material and colors...and I've been looking to make curtains for our bedroom for a couple years now.  The material is almost silk-like and the colors make the room nice and warm-glowing in the morning.

Salvation Army Thrift Store

We usually don't head over to the North side of Champaign very often (where the mall is), so we got a chance to visit the Salvation Army Thrift Store.  The boys and I had a lot of fun checking out all the toys we don't have at home.  We ended up coming home with these finds:

Find #1 - A bunch of plastic food that cost us $6.50

Find #2 - Fisher Price Storytime Chair $5.00 (retails for $35!!)

Find #3 - Zechariah had to have this Fisher Price Fire Truck - $3 

Find #4 - Gymboree 2T lined spring coat - $3

Find #5 - Bag full of toddler Forks and Spoons - $2.50

So our total came up to $20.50 (including tax).  I have been cleaning out and selling some of their toys, so I felt it was okay to bring home some new toys.  That's my motto, if you buy something you either have to give something away or sell it.  Overall, I thought it was a fun filled day shopping with the boys!
